About This Conference

The 14th International Conference on Shotcrete for Underground Support (ECI SUS XIV) will be held in Nong Nooch Gardens – Pattaya, Thailand from November 17-20, 2019.

This event is co-organized by Engineering Conferences International (ECI) and the Thailand Underground and Tunnelling Group (TUTG) of the Engineering Institute of Thailand (EIT) under His Majesty the King’s Patronage.

ECI SUS XIV aims to pool the consolidated knowledge and experiences from engineers, researchers and project managers from across the world in order to share and update state-of-the-art technology and best practices in rock engineering, rock support methods, TBM tunneling and deep excavation.

Topics

  • Modern technologies for rock exploration and site investigation
  • The use of state of the art laser systems for scanning of tunnel excavation & tunnel lining as well as 3 dimensional modelling of geological conditions
  • Technical and logistic improvements for rock tunneling and rock blasting
  • Shotcrete technologies for hard rock and soft ground tunneling as well as subsea tunnels
  • State of the art of mechanized tunneling using TBM (Tunnel Boring Machine) technologies in challenging ground conditions
  • New developments in TBM tunnelling, deep excavation and other underground technologies
  • State of the art application methods & equipment for shotcrete installation
  • Laboratory testing and on-site quality control
  • Structural design of shotcrete lining using multi-layer shotcrete
  • Application of Eurocode design standards in tunneling
  • State of the art design and new developments using fiber reinforced shotcrete
  • Numerical simulation of tunnel support with shotcrete
  • Mechanical properties of shotcrete installation under elevated temperature and in corrosive environments
  • Ground water control and grouting for tunnels designed with shotcrete lining
  • Interaction between shotcrete lining and different types of sealing systems
  • Rehabilitation and reinforcement of existing shotcrete lining and tunnel repair
  • The use of shotcrete for tunnel lining in conjunction with additional ground stabilization technologies
  • Shotcrete for slope stabilization and other shotcrete applications

General Information about ECI

Engineering Conferences International (ECI) is a not-for-profit, global engineering conferences program, originally established in 1962 that provides opportunities for the exploration of problems and issues of concern to engineers and scientists from many disciplines.

The format of the conference provides morning and late afternoon or evening sessions in which major presentations are made. Poster sessions will be scheduled for evening discussion as well. Available time is included during the afternoons for ad hoc meetings, informal discussions, and/or recreation. This format is designed to enhance rapport among participants and promote dialogue on the development of the meeting. We believe the conferences have been instrumental in generating ideas and disseminating information to a greater extent than is possible through more conventional forums.

All participants are expected both to attend the entire conference and to contribute actively to the discussions. The recording/photographing of lectures and presentations is forbidden. As ECI conferences take place in an informal atmosphere, casual clothing is the usual attire.

Smoking is prohibited at ECI conferences and conference functions.
